Revelation 15:1
Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.
I have reached the age of multiple doctors appointments per week. In that time, I have had two dozen MRI’s, 2 EMG’s, and so much dental work, my mouth has more porcelain than Williams Sonoma. In all these procedures, when I can barely endure, I have become trained to listen for the magic words that inevitably, if slowly, arrive from the doctor. “You’re almost done.” That must have been the feeling of the seven churches of Revelation as they reached this point in John’s vision. There were seven seals, seven trumpets and now they are hearing about seven bowls of plagues. They may have begun to doubt their ability to endure, when verse one gave them great and amazing news. Seven more plagues and the wrath of God is finished. They’re almost done!
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and we will see that, while the world is hurtling toward worshiping the beast, the church is alive and well all over the world. It may seem to you today like the noise of the MRI tube and the electric shocks of the EMG, and the incessant drilling will never end. The Bible promises otherwise. Revelation 15:1 says the sign of the end is great and amazing and we can look forward to it in faith because Jesus is coming soon in wrath and vengeance but for those who endure to the end, you’re almost done!
O Heavenly Father, the victory is yours and you promise to share the triumph with your heirs. Thank you that we are heirs with Jesus Christ the Lamb, in whose name we pray. Amen.
