Revelation 13:3-4

One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”

I Googled “former President Ronald Reagan as the antichrist” so you don’t have to. I am sad to say, I hit paydirt immediately. Revelation 13 is about the beast, commonly believed to be the Antichrist. 1 John 2:18 says there will be many antichrists but this is talking about THE Antichrist, the false messiah who will attempt to destroy the church…or Israel…or both. The reasons people thought it was President Reagan are numerous. Early in his presidency, he was shot by a would-be assassin but was healed. As if that does not convince you, ponder the fact that Ronald Wilson Reagan’s full name has six letters each. 666?

Come to Cape Community Church and rest assured that we will go no further down roads like this as we discover the meaning of Revelation 13. If I searched for sermons on chapter 13, I am sure I would find some that focus primarily on the identity of the beast, what the mark is, or what 666 means. That is not the point of the chapter. There is a clue in the middle that tells us all we need to know about what is to come.

Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.

O Heavenly Father, you know the beginning from the end and we are entirely dependent on you for our salvation. Let us not look elsewhere when Jesus is the answer. In his name we pray. Amen.
