Revelation 12:1-3

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. 3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems.

There are short phrases in the Bible that can be missed but have great impact. Genesis 12 has “…and the stars”. Untold billions of them!  2 Kings 22 says “…and Hilkiah has handed me a book”. Then came revival. In John’s vision so far, he has seen the throne and the Lord seated on it. He has seen the Lamb! He has seen the seven seals and trumpets. Then “a great sign appeared in heaven”. That must be some sign! There was a woman clothed in splendor and there was a dragon seething with rage.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and see the significance of each of these two new characters. As we see in all of Revelation, there are a multitude of possible interpretations of these various images. Come and see what we can definitely take away from chapter 12. We will see how chapter 12 connects us to the gospel of Jesus Christ. We will see how Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, will overpower and defeat Satan. We will see how, even if we don’t know when, we know that he wins. Have your bags packed. The best way to be ready is to get ready.

O Heavenly Father, the end can be scary but only if we don’t know that you are infinitely powerful. May we rest in your triumph. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
