Exodus 40:36-38
Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out. 37 But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
Would it not be great if there was an app for our phone that told us where and when to go so our lives would be blessed? There is. It’s a Bible app. Moses had just received an astounding number of “You shall” commands, to build the tabernacle and altar, and prepare the priestly garments. This was in preparation for God’s presence in their midst. Moses did all that was required and God was with them on their journeys in the wilderness. It was “in the sight” of Israel. They knew when it was time to go.
We have an advantage they do not have. At the moment of our salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells us and we are a new creation. We also have the Bible to show us what God would have us do, from the “you shalls” to the “I wills” of Jesus Christ. We have the promises of God that wherever we go, he sent us and goes with us. We no longer need the pillar of cloud and of fire. We have the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to guide us. We have prepared the tabernacle for worship of our gracious God. The Bible and the Holy Spirit are calling you to the gathering to worship.”You shall” worship him…
“He will” be there with you.
